Story
Bob Tree (Tom Green Road Trip, Stealing Harvard, Charlie’s Angels, Grind) is loved by everyone who works with him. He is also always A heart-wrenching, dramatic and violent story set in a place described as Heaven on Earth - the northwestern region of the Indian Subcontinent, better known as Kashmir.
The action-packed script traces the rapid and overnight transformation of a non-aligned secular and peaceful state into a volatile and disturbed area, swarming with local rogue elements ranging from political losers to criminals and Jihadis - freedom fighters - mostly from Pakistan.
The story reveals the stark and painful realities of the underlying Kashmir drama through the eyes of Raja, the five-year-old only son of a Hindu family who flee for their lives from their ancestral home in a breath-taking Himalayan valley. The family flees to escape threats to their lives from religious extremists, and they are killed while on the run by an angry mob, but young Raja miraculously survives.
Meanwhile Suzanne, a European tourist on holiday in Kashmir, becomes enchanted by the beauty, peace and calm offered by the valley, and she falls passionately in love with and marries a young Muslim musician; her husband soon becomes an outcast to religious fanatics and even his own family for having married a non-Muslim, and for indulging in the profession of traditional classical music - embraced by Muslims, yet feared by extremists.
In spite of coming from different cultures and varied backgrounds, destiny, and a narrow escape with his life bring Raja and Suzanne together to tread the same path.
While Raja loses his entire family, Suzanne - who had decided to live in Kashmir forever, loses her husband to sniper fire from the very Army stationed in Kashmir to supposedly maintain peace and protect the innocent.
For the young and beautiful european, the heart-breaking grief over her dead husband forces an exacting choice for her future - on the one hand joining the Jihadis to avenge her innocent husband, or the other - returning to her parents in Europe - leaving Raja orphan for the second time.
Escape from Heaven is a compelling and touching human survival story set in today's troubled Kashmir - the catalyst and origin of international conflict and terrorist activities between India, Pakistan, Afganistan and the West.
